Doc Is Staying!

The title says it all. Doc Rivers, the coach of the Boston Celtics is back! Good or bad, there is no turning back for the Celtics coach. Doc will stay for his final season on his contract and then probably retire to spend more time with his family in Orlando after the 2010-2011 season. Unless...the Celtics win the championship next year...could it happen? Nobody really knows... What do you think? With Doc back and coaching, will the Celtics have another chance to win it all or was last year their last shot?

Personally, I beleive the Celtics have a shot, but a very slim shot. It all depends on free-agency happening these next few weeks. Maybe the Celtics will acquire some great new players to add to their squad...or not. However, Lebron is out and ready for his first championship ring next year in any team that he decides on. So, really the Celtics might have a shot...if Lebron somehow magically decides to sign with a Western Conference Team. Sorry Celtics, I don't believe next year is your year!

Doc, congratulations on deciding to stay! Best of luck with your team! Maybe you can pump this team back up and surprise everyone...

This Storm Is Never Ending!

For those of you who don't watch the WNBA or for those of you who do, you should at least pay attention to one certain team. This team has an amazing forward/center who was Player of the Month in May and is unstoppable on the court. She has fierce red hair, (which she recently dyed), and has a beautiful three-point shot. This player not only is amazing on the court, but also off the court as well. She holds camps for kids throughout the WNBA season and teaches them basketball skills they need to learn. This player is Lauren Jackson. She is one of the main leaders on and off the court for the 12-2 Seattle Storm.

The Storm has been very dominant in the WNBA so far into the season. They have blown out teams by 20+points multiple times and aren't looking to slow down. However, a team can't succeed with just one good player. Good thing the Storm has more leaders on the court! This next player is the point guard, the heart and soul of the team. She directs traffic on the court and makes sure everything goes as she wants it. Ah...but don't be fooled, this point guard can SHOOT! This player is Sue Bird. Sue has the most amazing running jumper you will ever see in the WNBA, maybe even in the NBA too. From watching her for so many years, I still can't believe her shot. She can just run up the floor, immediately hit the brakes at the free throw line, and then hits the jumper!

Sue and Lauren are clutch players down the stretch, but there is another player that I would be happy to have on my team. This is the 6-1 Forward from UConn, Swin Cash. She can hit shots left and right when she's on and very dangerous when left open on the court. Even the name Swin Cash sounds great! She joined the team in 2008, (years after Sue and Lauren were on the team), and  adjusted nicely with the team's style of play. Similar to the Boston Celtics, Sue, Lauren, and Swin are the "Big Three" of the Storm.

However, the Celtics are leaning towards having the "Big Four"with Rondo, and so do the Storm. The Storm has a fantastic starting line-up, with T-Wright and Camille Little, either one acting as that fourth and fifth addition to a great team. Overall, if you are going to follow a WNBA team this year, look to the Storm as your team. They won't disappoint! I'm predicting the Storm will be WNBA Champions for the 2010 season! I mean ...who wouldn't? Would you?

What will happen with James, Wade, and Bosh?

With free agency just a few days away the big name on everyone mind is Lebron James. However, there are even more big names in the free agency category this summer. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are also entering free agency next to big shot James.

Will Lebron go or stay is the real question.  But, once Lebron comes out and decides whether to stay with the Cavs or not, the focus will shift to Wade and Bosh. Where Wade and Bosh decide to go depends on Lebron's choice.

If Lebron decides to stay, maybe Wade and Bosh will stay. Maybe they will all go to the Clippers or Knicks and revive the struggling NBA teams. Maybe they will team up with other coming-up superstars in the NBA, like Brandon Roy in Portland or Boozer in Utah or Carmelo in Denver. Nobody knows for sure but for now, (at least for Dwanye) they are relaxing at home.

Maybe they will be the dream team and come together and make their own team in Seattle,WA! Ya right, but its worth a shot! They would be great together! What about Kobe and Lebron? What if they were on the same team? Could they ever make it work? Dad says there isnt enough basketballs to go around! True... very true... but then they would both get resting minutes throughout the game AND they could win with a good supporting cast behind them.

But, thats not what this post is about. Its about Lebron and the rest of the free agency possy. Where they go is up to them and is a mystery to all. Sportswriters around the world will be eager to know what will happen and I will be one of them!

What do you think Lebron, Wade, and/or Bosh will do?

Are The Celtics At Their End?

Have the Celtics finally come to their end? Was Game 7 the last game with the Big Four and their coach? Nobody knows what could happen but that tragic Game 7 loss to the Lakers was a deal breaker. The Celtics showed no life in the final minutes and just lost focus on what they had previously set their minds to. To win a championship.

But, that didnt happen. They took the loss in LA and went back to Boston empty handed. No trophy, no celebration, and soon maybe no coach. People say that Boston must be crazy to fire Doc, but Doc Rivers has finally has his end with the Celtics. He has lead his team to some amazing playoff runs but in the end he didn't come through this time around. He had some awful subbing in Game 7, (but it also didn't help Perkins was out) and the lineups never seemed to mesh together on the floor.

Along with Doc, there is also Ray Allen. Ray choked. Thats all you can say. Truthfully he put up some awful numbers except for the ridiculous Game 2 with all those 3's, but when it came down to it he didn't deliver. Now, Boston would be crazy to get rid of him because Ray IS one of the all time greats, but the management in Boston could be crazy enough to do so.

Do I agree with getting rid of Doc and Ray? No...not neccesarily but if they do, the Celtics will be a whole different team and who knows if that new team could ever make the Finals again... With Rondo leading the way maybe they can...Maybe even Nate Robinson will step up...Nobody knows, but the offseason will soon reveal what is in store for the stuggling Celtics...................

Why So Much Hype About Kobe?

Kobe Bryant. You say those two words to any sports fan and you get scattered reactions. "The greatest player ever", "The next Micheal Jordan", "MVP of the 2010 Finals", "Won 5 NBA Finals", "Just plain ridiculous".

But, is Kobe really that good of a player? Can his name even be metioned in the same sentence as Micheal Jordan? Some say yes others say no.

My take? No.

Yes, Kobe hits amazing shots from ridiculous spots on the floor but he isnt all that. Take Game 7 of the 2010 Finals where he was 6 from 24 from the field, 0 for 6 on 3 point attempts and 23 points scored. Ah, but that isnt the only kicker, even with those numbers he still ended up getting MVP for the Finals. What? If any player should have gotten MVP it should have been Artest for his great effort and I don't even like Artest so that is saying a lot!

I believe Kobe is just caught up in the hype. He was named MVP because well...he is Kobe. You say his name and everyone knows him. I guess he could even be President if he wanted to, even if he never showed up to any of his public appearences. Connecting that to basketball, he could even win MVP without showing up to the game...just like in Game 7.

Overall, Kobe=NOT ALL THAT.
Lebron?
Greatest player ever?
No...but...
Better Than Kobe!

What is your take?
